UIowa Dance Gala Promo Photos
I recently got to do a socially distanced shoot on the top level of the Iowa Memorial Union ramp with three University of Iowa dance majors.
Iowa’s Dance Gala will be presented virtually this year, and these three dancers are working with faculty choreographer Stephanie Miracle on a film that will be shot in this parking ramp next to Halsey Hall. Iowa typically markets their concerts using archival photography from past concerts, but this year, the concert’s director, Eloy Barragán, and I discussed how it would be great if the marketing images more accurately reflected the unique conditions these artists are working with.
Undergrad dance majors are notoriously busy, but we managed to get together at 8:30 AM on a rainy Monday to capture these images. The rain wasn’t planned, but I think it made for some beautiful features here.
